April Showers bring May flowers

Wow I have not posted in quite a while, just goes to show I have finally settled in and am just living my life here! These past two weeks have been pure hell when it comes to school. My teacher for Aboriginal studies like hates my cause she grades me soo poorly and I am not used to that at home. Ugh I wish you could see this lady who is my mean horrible tutorial teacher... She looks like Cruella Devil with straw-like deep purple/red hair and also with far apart Shrek yellow teeth.

ANYWAY now that I took out my anger on her scary appearance I can tell you about the rest of whats been happening :) So like I said the last two weeks I had 3 papers, a presentation, a test, and lots of online homework to do. I have now completed it all and ready for my mid-session break that I am heading on starting tomorrow!

This past weekend Myka came to visit and it was a nice relaxing weekend, with lots of giggling and reminiscing from high school and middle school years! All last week it poured, for about 5 days straight all it did was rain constantly. Friday it did not rain all day which was a good sign because we were going to a going away party for my German friend Bjoern, he is going back home because his internship is done. We got Myka from the train station and we surprised her for her birthday with streamers, balloons, a present and a homemade cake for her to enjoy since Krissy and I couldnt see her on her actual Birthday. We got ready to go to dinner with Jolina and Kristina to go to Thia Basil which is my new found favorite restaurant here :) I LOVE pad-see-ew and the spring rolls are so yummy! We ordered about 9 different things and split everything and it was 12 AUD a person which was amazingly cheap for all the amount of food we got...

We came back to Keiraview cause it was chili out after the sun went down and got more bundled up to head to the house where the going away party was at. We all had a really fun time and around 1:00 am when we were just about to head home the skies opened up to dump the rain on us.... It POURED I mean it was raining so unbelievably hard, so we waited on the porch for awhile and were tired. After about 40 minutes it let up so we booked it home. Its about a 20 minute walk back so about 12 of us from Keiraview all headed back together. When we got home everyone was hungry and a little tipsy so of course food was going to be involved. The party moved into my kitchen... I was not pleased because I don't like a messy kitchen. The cake we made for Myka was now being devoured and the ice cream was being eaten out of the carton with multiple spatula's... it was a sight ill never forget because it was hilarious. Then one of the Aussies thought it would be a good idea to heat up the frozen green jello in a giant metal bowl in the microwave. HELLO... didn't your mother tell you to NEVER put metal in a microwave?! To my horror and surprise half of the people in the room didn't know you couldn't do that. I was so annoyed and pulled it out of the microwave, turned on the hot water and watched it drain down the drain. I don't think he was happy after that either. The rain started falling harder and people were wanting to have a water fight because now at this point there is Thai food everywhere and ice cream all over peoples faces as they started to have food wars. Myka and I didn't want to deal with the mess so we went to bed.

Saturday morning to my surprise my kitchen was recovered from the mess the night before, I was thankful I wasnt going to have to clean it up! I went into my kitchen and nearly had a heart attack because there was a pigeon on my counter!!! We dont have a screen on one of the windows which isnt that big of a deal but the sliding door was left wide open. I have seen this little fellow in my kitchen before usually picking up scraps of crumbs under the table but he was ON my counter top... I dont even want to talk about how UN-sanitary that is. Myka ran to get my camera to take a picture and as I yelled at it to get down I scared the crap out of it... literally.... onto the counter and on the floor it pooped then left waiting by the door as if it would be ok to come back in. I thought NOT. So Kristina was as grossed out as I was and went to get the cleaning people to come clean it. Well some of the people here are a french fry or two short of a happy meal and began to tell her it was not their responsibility to clean it up, she replied with "Is it the bird's mother's responsibility?!" and they sent someone to disinfect and clean the kitchen, thank god... haha ohhh man

Later we decided to go get Pedicures at the mall with Krissy :) I have not painted my toes in months so every time I walk now I think my foot is bleeding and I look down.. That night we played pictionary and Myka and I won with the word rectangle against Krissy and Kristina. Then we played hearts and I thought them how to play 65. And im sure the only people who know what I am talking about are relatives of Jack and Corrine Lewis! lol its an ole cabin classic :)

Sunday we made a big pancake breakfast that was delicious before Myka headed back home. I am so happy she got to come, I am going to see her again on Friday at the zoo and stay with her before I fly out to Hervey Bay.

Here is my itinerary for the week I will be gone.... (this is mostly for my mother)

Saturday April 11th
I fly out at 9:55 from Sydney to Hervey Bay where I will be at Palace Backpackers Hostel and enjoy a day out on the beach.

Sunday April 12th
We will be leaving Hervey Bay to drive to Fraser Island. This is 3 days and 2 nights in a 4WD vehicle the WE drive on the beach. There are no roads here... we will be given camping equipment including mats, a full tank of ga, an itinerary, and a map (not sure of what... lol the shoreline?) and then making our way to Fraser.

Tuesday April 14th
We then get on a gray hound bus and are going to drive 13 hours on a bus to Airlie beach when we arive on

Wednesday April 15th we get onto a massive sailboat called the SV White haven Sailing trip with OZ adventures and go on a 2 day 2 night sailing trip! This boat sleeps 24 people so it should be interesting... lets hope I dont get sea sick, I have Dramamine to make sure that doesn't happen.

Friday April 17th we will get back to Airlie Beach were we stay at Magnums Backpackers and spend our last night

Saturday April 18th we get back on a plane to come home around 630 pm :)

I have an interesting week ahead of me! I am sure there will be plenty of stories to tell and I am assuming many of them are going to be with driving that truck/van in the sand. I may get more sick on that then the sea. I guess I will be finding out soon!

Whats new in your life?! Drop me an email again, I would love to hear about it. I will respond to emails and such when I get home next Saturday!

Love you all,
Nikki
